Carbon & Nature

The UK is one of the most nature depleted countries in the world, Somerset and Wedmore are no different and Green Wedmore does all it can to restore it local wildlife. The natural world is our top ally in the battle to deal with and adapt to the changing climate. The natural world captures and stores carbon and without thriving nature we risk losing the ability to pollinate and grow our food.

Over the years Green Wedmore has:

  • Planted three local community woodlands, Terrys Community Wood, Community Orchard and Worthington Wood food forest.

  • Supported the Wedmore in Bloom project

  • Supported the ground-breaking Somerset Eel Recovery Project (https://www.somerseteels.com)

  • Launched the Wild for Wildlife in Wedmore project to help people create nature-friendly gardens and increase biodiversity.

  • Organised Wilder Wedmore. A weekend of walks and talks to engage all parts of the community to celebrate, learn about and restore our local environment.

This is a community project and the more people we can involve then the stronger we become. If you would like to receive email information about our activities then please subscribe to our newsletter
