Green Wedmore Meeting Wednesday 11th February 2026

Welcome to new faces, including from North Petherton.
Updates on actions:
Church Solar – project is progressing, the latest investigation being extra surface on top of existing lead to cope with temp changes.
Swift boxes – 6 sites identified. Boxes being built by Men’s Shed. 3rd March – council funding application (£200) Should be enough for 8 boxes. Target ready end March. To be installed early April hopefully. Householders need to arrange installation themselves. Action GC – Who is installing?
Water butt project – funding approved – WCPC (£1,000) and WRAF (£750) and £500 GW contribution. Article to go in IOW News.
Cavanna – public meeting possibly in March.
Sunlit Solar -there was a good turn out for the Solar and Cider event. Thanks to Sunlit they raised £85 for Green Wedmore with their raffle (£80 cash and £5 BACS). Discussed how to carry out a new survey for Solar 1000… thoughts and ideas. Drone? Action: Emily to ask MCS if data exists.

26 April Freecycle car park booked with parish council. Action: David Hopkins banners
June Ramble 27 June – Parish Council sponsored initiative. Starting point in centre of village, maybe The George. Loop to take in Terry’s Woods. Western loop to take in Village Farm who will also be a host. Stations to provide info, kids activities – eel station? Advertising from April IOW News. Encouraged to use INaturalist to build up biodiversity map.
Bat and bird box survey completed by Clarkson & Woods – Action D Kirley to send to SM

Vanessa – Somerset Council call out for EF charging points. Suggested Chaddar Road car park and Recreation Ground Car Park. Car charger at The George hasn’t been operational for some time.
